China Telecom, the dominant fixed-line phone company in China, has started offering 3G wireless service based on CDMA 2000 technology beginning mid of this month.

The company is also set to produce wireless phones for China Mobile, the largest mobile carrier by subscribers, which is scheduled to give 3G service using China’s homemade TD-SCDMA technology. China Unicom is going to supply the nationwide 3G service through LG-made cells in June.
