K-pop fans are buzzing with disbelief and shock when they learned that Girls’ Generation member Jessica will no longer be part of the band.

Jessica posted on her Weibo Tuesday (KST) that “as I was expecting and preparing for the coming up official schedule, I was notified by my agency and eight band members that I am no longer a member of the Girls’ Generation as of today” and she added, “I have always been putting the band’s activities as priority and have been dedicating my time, so I am shocked to receive this notice.”

Her post triggered the countless headlines on media to report that her agency kicked her out from the band.

However, the band’s agency SM Entertainment released its official statement immediately and after that Jessica’s post is not entirely true. According to the statement,

“Jessica informed the agency this spring that she will terminate her activities as the band member permanently after participating in one last album. Even though her notification was a sudden one, the agency and Girls’ Generation members have been constantly trying to work this out in beneficial way for all.

"However, after she launched her fashion related business, there has been conflicting interests over prioritizing Girls’ Generation activities, and as this problem prolonged and all attempts of deliberation failed, the team was put in hard situation to continue.

"For this reason, we have decided to expedite Girls’ Generation’s activities as eight-member-band and as we were going over the press release date, Jessica posted an article from her own perspective.

"The agency will continue to support and manage eight-member-band Girls’ Generation and Jessica’s personal activities.”
