Russian President Vladimir Putin was named the world's most powerful person by Forbes magazine for the second straight year, Wednesday (local time).

"No one would call Vladimir Putin, a good guy," the U.S. monthly management magazine said. Forbes also said that "as the undisputed, unpredictable and unaccountable head of an energy-rich, nuclear-tipped state, no one would ever call him weak."

U.S. President Barack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Pope Francis and German Chancellor Angela Merkel ranked second, third, fourth and fifth for the second consecutive year, respectively.

Forbes put U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen in sixth place; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, seventh; European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi, eighth; and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin tied for ninth.

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee and his son Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of the company, were tied for 35th place, five notches ahead of U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (40th).
