South Korea's Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group has set a goal of selling 8.2 million vehicles at home and abroad in 2015, up 1.5 percent from 2014, industry sources said.
Hyundai Motor aims to sell 5.050,000 units (1,869,000 at home and 3,181,000 abroad), while its sister company, Kia Motors, plans to sell 3,150,000 (1,710,000 at home and 1,440,000 abroad), they said.
Exact figures will be made available during the two automakers' kick-off meetings for the New Year on Friday, the sources said.
The Hyundai-KIa group, the world's fifth largest automotive conglomerate, projected that global sales of vehicles would rise 3.9 percent to 87.1 million units in 2015 from a year ago.
It attributed its lower sales growth estimate for 2015 than the global one to fluctuation of foreign exchange rate, weakening yen and slowdown in global economic recovery.
The group estimated that its sales would reach about 8 million units worldwide in 2014, up 6.1 percent from 7.54 million vehicles sold in 2013.
