Faster bullet train services linking Seoul with the southwestern city of Gwangju will be made available starting in March.

According to the Korea Rail Network Authority (KR Network) Friday, the high-speed train is capable of traveling at up to 300 kilometers per hour and will reduce the traveling time between Yongsan of Seoul and Songjeong of Gwangju to one hour and 33 minutes from two hours and 39 minutes at present.

Current KTX bullet trains run at a maximum speed of 150 kilometers per hour as they use conventional tracks for part of the journey. Those conventional tracks between Osong in South Chungcheong Province and Songjeong will be replaced with new ones. Work to build the new tracks began in 2009.

Stops will include Gongju, Iksan and Jeongeup, KR Network said. Tickets will be priced at 47,000 won for adults, up 9,000 won from the current 38,000 won.
