Sales of super high-end import vehicles, or "supercars," such as Maserati, Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Rolls-Ryoce, in South Korea have skyrocketed in recent years, industry sources said on Wednesday.

Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati saw its sales grew by nearly five-fold to about 600 units last year from 2013, they said.

Maserati, which has shops in the capital city of Seoul, Busan and Bundang near the capital, recently opened a customer service center in Bundang.

Another Italian supercar maker Lamborghinis sold an all-time high of some 30 units last year, a source said on condition of anonymity. A dealer refused to disclose how many Lamborghinis he or she sold in 2014 out of consideration for the privacy of buyers. Its Huracan and Aventador models are for sale in South Korea. The former is priced at more than 300 million won, while the latter's price exceeds 570 million won.

British luxury carmaker Bentley's sales in the country reached a record high of 322 units last year, up 96.3 percent from 164 vehicles tallied in the previous year, while Rolls-Royce sold 45 units, up 50 percent from a year ago, according to the sources.
