'Incheon best airport in Asia-Pacific'

Incheon International Airport (Seoul Incheon), the main gateway to South Korea, was named the best airport in the Asia-Pacific region by the Airports Council International (ACI), the only global trade representative of the world’s airports, Monday. Singapore ranked second, followed by Beijing, Haikou and New Delhi.

Other regional recipients of the prestigious 2014 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards presented by the ACI were Mauritius (Africa), Keflavik (Europe), Guayaquil (Latin America-Caribbean), Amman (Middle East) and Indianapolis (North America).

Seoul Incheon also topped the list in the category of large airports handling more than 40 million passengers per year, followed by Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai Pudong and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Seoul Gimpo was chosen as the top performer in the 15–25 million passengers category. Wuhan came in second, followed by Hangzhou, Cancun and Tampa.

The ASQ Awards, launched in 2006, are presented in four categories - best airport by region, best airport by size, best small airport and best improvement.
