SUNKEN FERRY TO BE SALVAGED: South Korea's Minister of Public Safety and Security Lee In-yong announces plans to retrieve the sunken ferry Sewol at a news conference following a meeting of officials from 17 government ministries and agencies at the Government Complex in central Seoul, Wednesday. Under the plan, work to salvage the 6,825-ton Sewol will begin in September at the earliest. It will take at least one year to complete the retrieval work at a total cost of more than 10 million won, officials said. Nine people still remain missing. The Sewol sank off the country's southwest coast in April last year claiming the lives of 304 people, mostly school children.
