The gymnastics stadium in the Olympic Park, southern Seoul, will be transformed into an outdoor venue for performances by K-pop artists, the culture minister said Tuesday.

Construction of the 15,000-seat K-pop Arena will be completed in 2017, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jong-deok said, while unveiling cultural policies for the second half of President Park Geun-hye's five-year term at Government Complex building in central Seoul.

Minister Kim also said that the government will construct an integrated facility for foreign visitors to experience traditional Korean culture near the Gyeongbok Palace in central Seoul.

The facility, dubbed "K-Experience," will be built at the former site of a residential building for the U.S. Embassy, which is currently owned by the Korean Air, a national flag carrier.
