S. Korean tennis star Chung Hyeon places 52nd in ATP singles rankings

South Korean tennis star Chung Hyeon reached his highest ATP singles ranking of 52, up two notches from a week earlier, according to the ATP world rankings released on Monday (local time).

Chung, a teenager, is the second South Korean to join the ranks of the top 100 in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) singles rankings, after Lee Hyung-taik who landed at a career-high 36 in 2007.

Kei Nishikori of Japan, ranked world No. 6, was the highest-ranked Asian male player.   

Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Andy Murray of Britain and Roger Federer of Switzerland retained their No. 1, 2 and 3 positions, respectively.   

Djokovic won the season-ending Shanghai Rolex Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center in Shanghai, China, Oct. 18, defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France 2-0 (6-2 6-4) in just 78 minutes.
