‘Hallyu’(Korean Wave) star Lee Min-ho is rocking Korean advertising industry. A commercial film he appeared, created by the Korean Tourism Organization is gaining its crazed popularity on ‘YouTube’.
‘Korea Let Your Story Begin,’ a promotional video created by the organization, has its view rocketing since its release in July. Following the release, the number of views reached 20 million in less than two months and by 9th of November, the views accumulated were 22.9 million.
Lee’s influence did not stop there. His recent advertisement teaser with Ferrero Rocher recorded 2 million views in just 4 days after its release. The actual advertisement recorded more than 3 million views and numbers are growing fast.
According to an article by Kim Eun-ha, Aju News Corporation’s reporter, Lee Min-ho’s influence in Korean advertisement industry is phenomenal. Almost every advertisement he stars in, reaches huge view rates in social media services such as YouTube. The commercial film client also gets the advantage of having its advertisement viewed not only by consumers in Korea, but by Lee’s fans worldwide.
Recently, Lee Min-ho got ranked top of the list of Korean celebrities to come into mind if a keyword ‘Korean Person’ was given. The survey was carried out by KBS World Radio in the Middle East. Lee also gained first place in ‘2015 Korean brand of the year awards,’ voted by Chinese consumers.
Lee continues to represent Korea by taking a role as honorary ambassador of 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics / Paralympics and ‘Visit Korea Year,’ starting from 2016 until 2018.
