Encore screening of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” by Michel Gondrey, originally screened in 2005, reconfirmed the Korean moviegoers’ love. It is ranked 4th in the Korean box-office, 2nd week of November.

Celebrating its original screening in 2005, the movie returned to Korean cinemas last Thursday. On the 1st day of re-screening, the melodrama accumulated over 58 thousand viewers breaking a record for “the most viewers accumulated for re-screened movie” in Korean film history. On the second week of the re-opening, cinemas screening the movie increased to 65 from 56.

Why is it so popular? An expert from the industry explains. “At this moment, Eternal Sunshine is probably the only melodrama worth watching in cinemas,” Kim Kyo-suk, a movie columnist also added, “It is a very well-made movie with a lot of fans. There are people who are watching it again for the love of the movie and there are people who watch it for the first time”.

Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind starring Jim Carry and Kate Winslett is a movie about a couple after a break-up. They have erased their memory about each other and became total strangers, but upon their series of coincidental meetings they cannot resist falling in love again.
