Sale of Lenovo’s 6.8 inch-phablet (hybrid word of phone + tablet), “Phab Plus” is suspended due to its alleged violation of a law. The phablet supports VoLTE in carriers such as SKT and KT but not LG U+.

The Korean law states a smartphone must support all LTE USIM card equally. But the Phab Plus, not supporting the “Voice over LTE” (VoLTE) in LG U+, limits consumers to choosing the carriers of their like and its diversity, which the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) saw the phone do not meet the requirements stated by the law.

Phab Plus, which was released last month, approximately 1,000 sold, will not be released in the market for at least 3 months while it undergoes series of tests to get radio certification.

Lenovo seeks to solve the problem pointed out by RRA, by upgrading the OS of the phablet. The latest OS of the Android “Marshmallow” automatically supports VoLTE without any tinkering done with the system.

Even if the problem can be solved, this unfortunate event will be a big fallback for Lenovo,
