Hyundai Motor Group is planning to change the logo of its high-performance brand “N”.

According to a report by Lim Eui-taek, a reporter of AJU NEWS CORP, Hyundai Motor Group is undergoing in changing the N brand’s logo. A high official of Hyundai Motor Group confirmed.

The high-performance brand N, came from the head letter of “Namyang”, where the Hyundai’s R&D center is located in Korea. Also, it’s a head letter of “Nürburgring Ring”, also known as the “Green Hell”, the infamous track in Germany where Hyundai’s driving test center is located.

The previous logo was designed in resemblance of “chicane” which is a part of a race track where series of S-shaped curves. Despite its unique concept and ideas, it had been criticized for being in similar design and colors to BMW’s M performance logo.

“After the announcement of the N brand, there’s been words pointing out that, the logo looks similar to BMW’s M performance brand,” the official said, “Since we are waiting for the new models of cars’ release, it’s not a problem to change the logo design,” he added.

A prototype of N logo was released last September, but the official said major changes can be applied to its design. “Color changes made to the logo is not the final product. The changes will be made until we start mass producing the high-performance cars.”

It is known that Chung Eui-sun, the Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, had been leading the N brand since its beginning and is very affectionate about it.

The N brand’s slogan “Ngaged” came from an idea which, the best moments of driving are when the driver and the car becomes one. The aim of N brand is to satisfy its driver with sheer joy and passion of driving on and off the tracks.
