Samsung Electronics announced its “Samsung Internet for Gear VR”, an internet browser exclusively for Gear VR on Wednesday. However, the browser is still at its beta stage.

According to Samsung, the browser lets Gear VR users to navigate through 360 degrees video, video streaming, HTML5 video and other virtual reality (VR) contents as if they are sitting in front of a huge screen.

Samsung Internet for Gear VR also allows users to search of contents using its browser features straight off the web. Without the browser, users were needed to have the contents downloaded onto their compatible smartphones prior to watching.

Samsung also reduced the handicap of controlling VR headset. Because a user is wearing a headset, it is very hard for the person to navigate through its menus and controls. Internet for Gear VR can connect to keyboard wirelessly or its user can just gaze at a menu the person wishes to navigate to, and the browser will automatically select the menu.

Samsung Electronics official said, “We have been redefining the VR experience by providing users with new, deep VR experiences. We expect to provide the users with more contents with Samsung Internet for Gear VR”.
