Citizens of Seoul are getting fatter every year

According to an infographic released on Monday by Seoul Institute, the “Think Tank” of Seoul, 1 out of every four Citizens of Seoul is obese. Also, obese people are increasing every year.

The infographic shows that average total of people over 25 Body Mass Index (BMI) in the year 2014 were 23.9 percent. The numbers have risen from the year 2008’s 20.6 percent, which the institute points out, that obese people are increasing in numbers in Seoul every year.

Obesity was found mostly among men in their 30’s and 40’s and women in their 60’s. Women in 20’s were the most underweighted group resulted with 21 percent. Underweighted female in 30’s were 13.2 percent.

People with BMI under 18.5 are considered underweight. Between 18.5 and 23 are normal. 23 to 25 are classified as at risk of obesity, 25 to 30 are obese, and above 30 are at the second degree of obese.

Experts say that the best way to tackle obesity is to walk or by doing light, but continuous exercises which last more than 30 minutes. Citizens of Seoul tried to take exercise harder than 2008 (48.6 percent), 61.9 percent of people have tried to exercise or to lose weight in last 12 months. People who walked more than 30minutes a day were 55.2 percent.
