Fujitsu, Vaio and Toshiba are considering merging of their businesses, according to a Japanese media Nikkei, reported on Friday.

The report said that three companies are on their way to discuss specifications on the merger later this month. The merger aims to launch a new company on April next year.

Laptop sales have been decreasing worldwide due to a distribution of smartphones. Mobile users of global search portal Google and Korea’s leading search portal Naver have outnumbered PC users this year.

Smartphones getting larger and increasing numbers of tablet users are also affecting the laptop industry because productivity apps such as Microsoft’s Office and Adobe Photoshop now fully support mobile devices. Japan’s laptop industry could not be from the global syndrome.

Experts of the industry expect if the merging is done, the company could overtake NEC-Lenovo, which is the leader in laptop market in Japan.
