HTC to release VR headset April 2016

HTC Corporation, a Taiwanese multinational manufacturer, announced release plans for its virtual reality (VR) headset, “Vive”. According to HTC, the commercial version will be available for sale in April next year.

There are already some vive loose in the market. The most of them are developer version distributed by HTC itself. HTC had been providing Vive to developers, contents creators and producers worldwide.

But for consumers, Vive was like a unicorn. You’ve heard about it, but nobody you know has seen it or has used it. With the news about the Vive, consumers’ expectation got bigger. Finally, HTC came up with the release schedule.

HTC wrote in its official blog “We will be starting the new year by making an additional 7,000 units available to developers, followed by commercial availability in April 2016. We are incredibly excited about the future and look forward to sharing more information as we move forward towards launch.”

Actual dates and Vive’s price is not known at this point. But already online VR related communities are bustling with fans expectations and predictions.

In recent years, VR industry had been hot with news of new gear being released in the market. Along with HTC Vive, two versions of Samsung’s “Gear VR” were released and caused great hype since the headset sold out in hours. “Oculus Rift” is ready for its release next year, “PlayStation VR” teased its fans by releasing playable demos of VR contents at game conventions.
