Google released a Chrome experiment. It turns user’s smartphone (any smartphone with Chrome installed) into the trademark of Star Wars: a lightsaber.

Users can play the “Lightsaber Escape” by simply typing in g.co/lightsaber on desktop’s web browser and receive a URL. By Typing in the URL onto users’ smartphone’s chrome web browser, the job is done. After simple calibration process, users can wield their smartphones

The Lightsaber Escape is a simple game. Set in a star destroyer, an enormous space cruiser, the user must escape using the lightsaber to block, and fight his or her way out.

The experience is quite unique. With vibrations and sound effects from the phone and actual sense of wielding a lightsaber is quite fun. If the user gets used to the game, it is not hard to deflect blaster shots.

The graphics and its effects were built with WebGL and real-time communication between the PC and smartphone are able because of WebRTC and WebSockets. Computer experts say that with no plug-ins and hardly any lag or latency could be noticed, Google has done an amazing job with the Lightsaber Escape.
