Drones, drones are everywhere. They are used in various industries. Some fly the drones as a hobby. Even the governments are using it as surveillance purposes. But as for their discreet nature, drones are considered a potential threat. Especially, towards people’s privacy.

Earlier this year a drone landed on the roof of the Prime Minister’s office in Japan. The drone carried a small amount of radioactive cesium. The owner of the drone tried to raise awareness on the situation in Fukushima. a place in Japan, nuclear power plant damaged by tsunami is contaminating the whole district with radiation.

Viral videos on YouTube are overflowing with individuals filming other people with drones. some of them were flown over nude beaches, random backyards and parks. Intruding other’s private life.

Many countries around the world are regulating drone flights. For example, the U.S. authorities require drone owners to register their flying menace in order to have it flown. South Korea established a no-fly-zone for drones and regulates the speed and its maximum flying altitude to avoid it from colliding airplanes.

Japanese law officials, who were threatened by radioactive drone attack, came up with an idea of catching drones with other drones with a net. Japanese authorities plan to operate the net-catching-drones active around government buildings starting February next year.

The method of catching drones in flight with a net may seem a bit primitive, but the officials said drones caught by the net gets tangled so that it won’t freefall down onto a street or a passerby. It is the safest way to ensure the safety of people and the drone caught.

U.S. ammunition manufacturers have released shotgun shells specialized in taking down drones. Filled with smaller pallets or plastic BB pallets, it is an effective way to shoot down a drone intruding a private property.

One of the manufacturers of anti-drone-ammunition, Snake River wrote on their website: "Drone Munition was created to provide defense against the danger caused when drones are misused. Drone Munition is lead free, safe for the environment and provides a very high quality load that will effectively disable a drone encroaching your property's airspace."

But firing at a drone in populated area may cause some trouble. A man in Kentucky shot down a drone hovering over his lawn where his teen daughter was sunbathing, but was arrested for violating a local ordinance – shooting in the city.

Because shooting down a drone with ammunition may cause problems with neighbors and law enforcements, Battele Corporation’s DroneDefender is the answer for some drone-haters.

The device, which looks very similar to a rifle, uses radio pulses to disable a drone in flight up to 400 meters. The DroneDefender disables the communication system making the drone to think that it’s out of range or low on battery, forcing itself to descend very slowly, activating its emergency protocol.

With DroneDefender, its operator can avoid any damage to buildings or innocent bystanders.
