Alibaba, the e-commerce giant is infamous for fake goods sold on its sites. It’s totally out of control to a state so the company hired a former anti-counterfeit executive from Apple.

According to a report by TechCrunch, Alibaba hired Matthew Bassiur, the Vice president and Deputy Chief Security Officer of Pfizer as Alibaba’s Vice president and Head of Global Intellectual Property Enforcement. Mr. Bassiur will start his new role in January next year.

Mr. Bassiur is known to have led Apple’s investigative program regarding theft, fraud, leaks threats, and cybercrime.

Alibaba was constantly accused of letting its sellers sell counterfeits without any restriction. To battle such accusations, the e-commerce giant runs specialized teams to shut down sellers who sell counterfeits and claimed that the company is making progress.

But ironic point is, it is still easy to find counterfeit items in Alibaba’s commerce sites such as Taobao and Aliexpress.
