A video of a priest singing a Christmas song went viral on Facebook Saturday, viewed more than 14 million times as of Tuesday.
Hoverboards, which are a pair of electric-powered wheels connected to a pair of foot paddles, are a craze all over the world. Even this priest, unknown of his name, could not hold back from the temptation of showing off his new gizmo in front of parishioners.
The diocese of San Pablo, Laguna publically condemned the priest’s action on Tuesday and announced that he is suspended. “The Mass is the Church’s highest form of worship,” the diocese pointed out. “Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people.”
According to the diocese, the priest will be out of the parish and he will spend some time to reflect on this past event.
