A hardware manufacturer Intel is eyeing a right moment to start its drone business. The chipset giant recently acquired a drone company Ascending Technologies, a Germany-based startup which creates small-sized drones and software to fly them.

According to reports, all of the Ascending Technologies’ employees will be given offers to join Intel. Financial details of the acquisition have not yet been specified.

Drones were the hot item of 2015, and experts believe it would continue to be the center of trend this year. Ascending Technologies is famous for its software which enables accurate control of the drone.

However, it seems that Intel will leave Ascending Technologies as it is for the time being. Josh Walden, Intel’s Senior Vice President left a post on his blog noting Intel will support existing customers of Ascending Technologies.

“We plan for the Ascending Technologies team to continue supporting their current customers while also collaborating with Intel’s Perceptual Computing team to develop UAV technology that can help drones fly with more awareness of their environments.”

According to Ascending Technologies, there are well over 1,000 of our unique aircraft solutions are in operation worldwide.
