Twitter, a social network service, may let its users make long notes known as “tweets”.

According to Re/Code’s report, the social network service is developing a new feature that will allow its users longer than 140 letters. Re/Code reported that quoting multiple sources from the industry, Twitter is considering a 10,000 limit to its tweets and the service may start as soon as the end of the first quarter of 2016.

Tweeter has a unique system which limits its users to make tweets only with 140 letters. This uniqueness made the social network service special with short, fast-paced tweets which are ideal for neo-generation who are accustomed to short, but witty contents.

But there was a downside to it. If a user wanted to create a content which requires more than 140 letters, then the user would have to either make a series of tweets or, tweet a link to lead other users to another source such as a blog of Facebook.

Re/Code reports that there will be a change in Twitter’s timeline features as well. If a tweet with more than 140 letters is posted, only up to 140 letters will be shown on the timeline. In order to read more, a user has to click to expand the tweet, exposing the full content.
