EXO awarded grand prize at the 25th Seoul Music Awards

South Korean idol group EXO was awarded the grand prize at “the 25th Seoul Music Awards” on Friday.

EXO, one of the most favored boy-group of South Korea was awarded the grand prize for their third time. The top group received the award three years in a row, breaking the record for most consecutive awardee of Seoul Music Awards.

Previous record holders were Seotaiji and the boys (1992~1993), H.O.T (1997~1998), Cho Sung-mo (1999~2000), and Girl’s Generation (2010~2011).

Not only did EXO was awarded the grand prize, the group made a streak by being awarded the main prize and Korean Wave award. Members of EXO expressed their gratitude after receiving the awards. “It is unbelievable that we received the grand prize for three years in a row.”

Best album award went to Boa, who had her eighth album released last year. Favorite online music award went to Big Bang’s “Bang Bang Bang”.
