Amazon China received a license to conduct ocean freight service forwarder in the U.S. the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) now lists Amazon China as licensed Ocean Transportation Intermediary, which is a company authorized to sell ocean freight services.

Oceanic shipping industry is worth U.S$ 350 billion. Just about every product made in Asia moves to the U.S by boat. Now, according to the Business Insider’s report, Amazon China has the right paperwork to provide ocean freight services for other companies.

With its oceanic freight services, Amazon’s customers can move its goods by the company’s logistics network. The official name of the FMC registry is “Beijing Century JOYO Courier Services Co. Ltd” with the trade name “Amazon China”.

With the oceanic freight service, situation would be easier for Amazon to meet the needs of its customers living in the U.S.

If a customer wants to buy a product from a seller located in China, he or she would have to use complicated shipping methods to receive the package. This method can be expensive and could also take a long time.

But in the future, when Amazon itself takes care of shipping from China to the U.S., it would be a completely different story. Plus, Amazon China can provide freight forwarding services for Chinese companies looking to move products directly into Amazon’s warehouses.
