Oil price had reached its lowest point in South Korea and it is affecting the everyday life of Koreans. Travelers who go abroad are the most benefitted due to lowered fuel surcharges for international flights.

Korea Tourism Organization reported that people who traveled overseas in November 2015 increased by 26.2 percent when compared to the same period in 2014. A total number of people who went overseas from January to November last year was 17,528,000, which had increased 19.6 percent from the same period of 2014.

The Analysts see the increase in overseas travel is boosted by the low oil price. For last five months, there had been no fuel surcharges which made the flight tickets reasonably cheaper.

The low oil price had changed how South Koreans buy their cars. Because there’s less burden to bear, sales of larger vehicles such as SUVs had increased.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, a total of 1,833,000 cars were sold last year, which was increased 10.4 percent from the previous year. While small, middle, and full sized cars’ sales share decreased in an average of 2.1% percent point, SUV sales increased from 2014’s 27.8 percent to 34.1 percent last year.
