Following a series of nationwide shopping events carried out by multiple South Korean resellers and vendors, another nationwide discount event is to start later this month, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Korea Grand Sale will begin on January 25 and will end on February 7. It’s aimed to boost domestic sales before the lunar calendar’s New Year’s holidays.
The Korea Grand Sale also targets foreign tourists visiting Korea. The deal begins from February 1. Duty-free shops and other retail stores will begin the shopping event with a celebration of lunar New Year.
Last year, South Korea hosted three shopping events, including K-Sale Day and Korea Black Friday. Local retailers and online shopping malls which took part in the events experienced noticeable increases in the sales. The participants also took benefit from the government’s excise tax cut programs.
