Samsung, LG, and… More! What to expect at MWC 2016

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is to start in Barcelona from February 22 until 25. Many IT fans worldwide are eyeing in on this congress, not only MWC is the largest trade show specialized in mobile hardware, but many companies will introduce their to-be-released hardware. This year, flagship smartphones and virtual reality (VR) hardware will be the hot items of the congress.

Much anticipated S7 and S7 Edge will be introduced at the MWC. The flagship smartphones are rumored to be released in the first half of 2016. S7’s design have already been leaked, featuring smaller camera bump and more rounded out edges than its brother, S6. The announcement will be made on the 21st.

Other than smartphones, there had been news regarding Gear VR platform. Experts predict there may be some features installed onto the new flagships which would provide new features to the Gear VR.

LG’s first flagship of this year, G5 will be introduced on the same day as its rival, Samsung. G5 is drawing attention as no actual rendering of the smartphone had not been released by LG or leaked during a manufacturing process.

There are rumors which, G5’s battery will fit into the smartphone from the bottom side, sliding up into the phone. There was even a specific diagram explaining the process, but LG did not comment anything on the G5.

So far, assuming from Geekbench benchmarks, G5 will be fitted with Snapdragon 820 Processor (1.59 GHz), and 4 gigabytes of RAM. It will run on Android OS version of 6.0.1. Also, G%’s touch enabled half-transparent case had been released.

So far, no news of new smartphone from the Taiwanese hardware maker, but a VR machine “HTC Vive” VR headset is expected to be displayed at the MWC. The Vive had already been introduced at the CES recently, at MWC, more playable demos of Vive compatible software are to be introduced.

HTC Vive is set to start shipping in April.

Huawei

China’s IT device manufacturer has a press event scheduled for Sunday. The Chinese tech giant had hinted that the company will release a brand new Huawei device. According to Huawei, the device will meet the needs of the new mobile generation.

Experts of the industry expect Huawei P9 to be introduced at the press event, a successor to P8, which was released last year. Also, a series of smartwatches are expected to be introduced at the congress.
