Rumors that LG may introduce a new virtual reality (VR) hardware at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 which opens in Barcelona, Spain from February 22.
Evan Bliss from @evleaks of Twitter posted a very short tweet two weeks ago. The tweet just saying “LG G5 VR”, raised IT fans’ attentions. There was no further explanation on Bliss’s tweet, but followers and fans have predicted what the tweet meant.
Some expected LG to introduce a head mounted display (HMD) like Oculus Rift or smartphone compatible VR accessory like Samsung’s Gear VR. But some, predicted that LG may introduce something really new, such as a connected camera which could film 360 degrees, ideal for creating VR contents.
Apparently, Bliss’s comment is plausible since LG had “VR panorama”, “360VR”, “VR GLASS”, “Live Action Cam” applied for trademarks from the Korean Intellectual Property Office in last few months.
