Apple is reportedly planning to adopt OLED displays into iPhone which are to be released in 2017.

According to a report from Macrumors released on Tuesday, Apple is trying to establish a stable supply of OLED displays from manufacturers such as Samsung and LG.

Macrumors wrote in the report “In December, Apple contacted LG and Samsung about the potential to ramp up OLED production in time for the 2017 iPhone. However, the OLED technology would likely be limited to a higher-end iPhone like the 7 Plus or the rumored iPhone Pro due to possible supply constraint.”

But Macrumors also mentioned a possibility that schedule of Apple adopting OLED display in iPhone may get pushed back to 2018. Quoting Nikkei, that Apple supplier Japan Display is preparing a mass production of OLED displays for iPhones beginning in early 2018.
