Light-emitting diode (LED) televisions from Chinese tech giant Xiaomi made their official debut in South Korea Monday, reflecting the growing popularity of Chinese gadgets in the competitive Korean market.

South Korean consumers can buy Xiaomi's 40-inch LED TVs through on-line shopping mall webs Gmarket and Auction as well the online and offline outlets of E-mart, South Korea's largest retailer.

The price was roughly set at 490,000 won (408 US dollars).

Helped by an increase in sales of budget phones, Chinese firms led by Xiaomi have sold more gadgets in South Korea, undermining the dominance of market leader Samsung Electronics and other Korean makers.
