A pair of sneakers fit for a sci-fi movie is released by Nike. The "Hyperadapt 1.0" it's called, and its owners will never have to tie shoe laces again- because the sneakers do it themselves.

The futuristic sneakers were introduced at Nike's Innovation 2016 event on Wednesday. The Hyperadapt is designed by Tinker Hatfield, a sneaker designer, and Nike's senior innovator, who also designed "Nike Air Mag" and "Nike Air Yeezy". The sportswear company announced that the Hyperadapt will be released for this year's holiday season.

The self-lacing mechanism is activated when the wearer's feet hits a sensor built into the sole of the sneaker. Its wearer can adjust the tightness by using two buttons on the side.

“Wouldn’t it be great if a shoe, in the future, could sense when you needed to have it tighter or looser?" asked Hatfield. "Could it take you even tighter than you’d normally go if it senses you really need extra snugness in a quick maneuver? That’s where we’re headed. In the future, product will come alive.”

Nike did not release much information on the sneakers, however, from the video from Nike, the sneakers may feature light-up abilities to help the wearer become more visible during their night runs.
