The game set record sales of US$ 330 million in just five days of its release. Previous record holder was "Destiny" by Activision. Destiny sold $325 million in its five days of release. (Sales results are combined numbers of package sales and digital download sales)

According to data from Ubisoft, The Division's players have accumulated a total of more than 100 million hours playing the game, Ubisoft also said over 1.2 million people played the game online simultaneously during the last weekend.

"Not only Division set a new record for its sales, but also set a new record for player involvement," said Ubisoft's Online Service Department's Vice President Stephanie Perotti, "The Division will provide its players with the top of the notch game experience fit for gamers' demands."

The Division is set in New York, which is devastated by deadly virus outbreak, caused by mass contamination during Black Friday season. The players must scavenge, survive, and eliminate enemies of the state in the open-world environment. Online play is also available for co-op play and PVP (player versus player).
