Chinese group to invest in South Korean fantasy action film

A Chinese media group will invest some 500 million yuan (77.4 million US dollars) int South Korea's fantasy action film "D-War II" directed by comedian-turned-director Shim Hyung-rae.

The movie production and distribution arm of the Chinese Culture Group will entirely finance the sequel to "D-War".

Shim, helped by a Hollywood director, plans to release the movie by next summer. The Chinese group in charge of distribution has agreed to share profit evenly.

"D-War II" depicts a fictional war between the United States and Russia trying to land the first human on the moon.

The first movie was released in 2007, attracting 8.42 million viewers in South Korea. It earned $11 million in the US.
