A Seoul court has dismissed a defamation suit filed by the US-based aunt of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un through a South Korean lawyer against three prominent defectors from the communist country.

The suit was filed last year by Ko Yong-suk who took asylum in the United States in 1998 with her husband after taking care of Kim for years when he was studying in Switzerland.  She has never visited Seoul.

Ko is the younger sister of Kim's mother who died in France in 2004. She and her husband accused the defectors, including a former North Korean diplomat, of spreading false information about her and her family.

Ko's lawyer, Kang Yong-suk, said earlier that Ko had wanted 60 million won ($51,460) in compensation from the defectors for making groundless remarks during TV talk shows in Seoul between 2013 and 2014.

The defectors claimed that- Ko siphoned off gambling money from a secret fund of Kim's late father, Kim Jong-Il, and that she had plastic surgery after defecting to the United States.

The district court in Seoul said it has dismissed the case because the lawyer did not provide correct addresses for the defectors.
