A new Samsung Electronics refrigerator was rolled out Wednesday, armed with a 21.5-inch high-definition touch screen that allows users to check foodstuffs stores inside, order groceries online, watch TV programs and listen to music.

It is more of a digital hub that can connect users with family members and other digital gadgets at home. The 850-liter freezer called "Family Hub" carries a price tag of 6.49 million (5,547 US dollars).

It features voice control, screen mirroring and digital payment for online shopping. A full HD touchscreen installed on its right door displays photos shared from smartphones. Users can communicate with other family members through notes and voice recordings. It also links to televisions to deliver content on air.

Three cameras installed inside automatically take photos of the food stored inside. Users can check on the food through a smartphone app.

Samsung and its domestic rival LG have moved further to luxury brands in the face of fierce competition with Chinese firms in the global home appliance market.
