A joint cinema venture has been set up between South Korea's leading entertainment and media company CJ E&M and Thailand's largest cinema chain Major Cineplex to produce movies for fans in Southeast Asian markets.

CJ E&M said the joint venture called "CJ Major Entertainment" underlines efforts to tap further into the Southeast Asian cinema market.

The joint venture will produce more than ten films in the next three years, including the Thai remake of South Korea's hit film "Miss Granny," which will start filming in May for release at the year end.

Major Cineplex runs 606 screens. It plans to increase its screens to 1,000 in the next five years.
