Samsung, one of the leading companies in the virtual reality (VR) industry, released a new "Milk VR" mobile app on Google Play on Monday.

Milk VR app provides the users with 360-degree angle interactive videos which were accessible through Samsung's Gear VR headset, but with the new app, users without the company's VR headset are also able to experience the realistic VR world.

Samsung's aim on releasing the new app is to provide Gear VR users with contents when they do not have the headset ready. The mobile app lets the user browse through the video content library and download for later viewing.

The Samsung spokesperson said, "The new app virtually eliminates the period of which the users wait to download video contents while wearing their headset, letting the users download the contents in advance."

However, despite what Samsung's aim may be, the new Milk VR app may become a doorway for the users who do not have Samsung's Gear VR but have become interested in VR contents after trying the app out. The new app does not support Google's Cardboard, which is the cheapest and also a reference to VR devices run on the Android OS.

The Milk VR mobile app is only available for new generation Samsung smartphones. Android OS smartphones made by other manufacturers will not be able to run the app.
