The "Notorious" Conor McGregor, an Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, just tweeted his retirement.

The Irish fighter tweeted on Wednesday "I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya's later." McGregor, being one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, shocked the world with his announcement.

Many fans thought his Twitter account is hacked, but UFC cleared the doubts by making a statement the fighter is pulled from upcoming UFC 200 event. Dana White, the President of UFC announced that McGregor has been pulled from his UFC 200 main event against Nate Diaz on July 9. McGregor handed his first loss to Diaz in March, was in preparation for a revenge match.

According to the UFC officials, McGregor informed them that the fighter would not participate in any promotional activities, including a commercial shoot and press conferences for the UFC 200.

But UFC officials could not confirm if McGregor is really retiring or not. White told the Sports Center "Is Conor McGregor retiring? Only he can answer that question. I don't know. But he's not fighting at UFC 200."

McGregor started his professional fighting career in Dublin, Ireland. He joined the UFC in 2013 and appeared in eight fights including the match he lost to Nate Diaz in March.
