Snapchat, one of the world's fastest-growing social media app, has told its investors that its video service is now generating more than 10 billion views a day.

The figure is more than the double amount of video views recorded on the application a year ago and much higher than 8 billion views posted just two months ago.

Snapchat has gained popularity with its unique contents managing system. Once  an image or a video clip is shared, it automatically gets deleted off from shared users' smart devices and servers after a designated time ranging from a few seconds to 24 hours.

The app now has more than 100 million users worldwide, and they are spending an average of 25 minutes to 30 minutes a day using the app.

Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and other social media are enhancing their video capabilities while urging its users to use more of its video features.

A networking systems maker Cisco foresaw that  video will account for 75 percent of the world's mobile traffic by 2020, becoming the key part of a conversation which takes place on social media platforms.

Earlier this year, Facebook launched a live video feed feature on its iOS app in which users can subscribe and get notified when a person they are following starts live streaming video.

Instagram, which is Facebook-owned, also strengthened its video features with the April update. The image and video sharing social media app provide "Videos You Might Like" and "Featured" video channels, suggesting video clips to users based on their interests.

Other than Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram, other social media have joined the race to get a share of the Social media users' video traffic. Periscope and Twitter have updated video features, and Google is to enhance YouTube by adding more features to lure smart device users.
