Microsoft announced Tuesday the company's plans to expand its cloud service "Azure" and two of its data centers are coming to South Korea.

According to a media outlet VentureBeat's report on Tuesday, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the media that two regions of data centers are coming online in Korea, including one in Seoul.

Takeshi Numoto, corporate vice president of marketing for Microsoft’s Cloud & Enterprise business wrote in a blog post, "Businesses in Korea and throughout Asia Pacific will be able to use the massive computing power available locally to fuel growth, spur innovation and accelerate digital transformation."

Microsoft's Azure is a cloud computing platform which provides cloud services through a global network of Microsoft-managed data centers. Microsoft is currently in competition with public cloud market leader Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform. Google recently announced its plans to set up more cloud regions around the world.
