Xiaomi, Chinese smart devices manufacturer, is to unveil "Google Nexus Player" at Google I/O Developer Conference, a South Korean media outlet iNews24 reported.

iNews24 said in its exclusive report that the Chinese tech giant is to introduce Google's video streaming device Nexus Player at the conference. According to the report, the next-generation streaming device will be priced at 50 US dollars, which is almost the half the price of previous Nexus Player models.

Previous Nexus Player was manufactured by Taiwanese maker ASUS. Nexus Player works as a set top box which runs on Android OS and it is used as streaming device for applications such as Netflix, and YouTube.

The ASUS-made Nexus Player was installed with Intel Atom Z3560 1.8 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB memory, and 8GB of storage, but the media outlet expects that the new version by Xiaomi will feature a specification of the similar level or higher than of Apple's "AppleTV" (fourth generation model). The fourth generation AppleTV features Apple A8 processor, 2GB memory, 32GB or 64GB flash storage memory and support for HDMI 1.4.

Xiaomi had previously released "Mi Box", a media streaming device, but it is only sold and serviced in China. iNews24 reported, quoting various experts of the industry, that Xiaomi manufacturing Nexus Player may be a part of a strategy to advance into the US market.
