South Korean actor Yoochun, a JYJ member, has been sued for sexually assaulting a female employee in an adult entertainment bar. His agency called it "malicious blackmailing".

The woman has claimed that she was sexually assaulted on June 4 at the bar's bathroom and reported to police a week later, handing in her underwear as evidence.

In a statement on Monday, C-JeS Entertainment, Yoochun's agency, insisted the suit was based on false accusations.

"The accusation on Yoochun is just a false claim and further details will be revealed by authorities," the agency said. "We will not come to terms with such malicious blackmailing. Yoochun will sincerely cooperate with authorities ... to reveal the truth."

Yoochun's reputation has already been damaged by unverified news reports about the incident, it said, calling for a cautious media approach.

Yoochun debuted in 2004 as a member of boy group "Dong Bang Shin Ki" and pursued a career as a singer-actor. He started his mandatory military service last August, not as a regular army soldier but as a public service worker in Seoul's Gangnam district.
