Two Vietnamese aboard a tuna fishing vessel operating in the Indian Ocean killed a South Korean captain and a chief engineer Monday in an apparent mutiny that followed a drinking party, the coastguard said.

The two Vietnamese in their early 30s attacked the 43-year-old captain of the 138-ton Kwang Hyun 803 and the 42-year-old engineer in waters near the Seychelles archipelago, coastguard officials said.

The two have been locked up in the vessel after being overpowered by other fishermen, they said.

The coastguard said the vessel with three South Koreans, seven Vietnamese and eight Indonesians aboard were sailing for news fishing groups when the incident took place.

The vessel, navigated by a South Korean sailor,is now heading for the Seychelles for legal procedures, it said.
