South Korea's LG Electronics on Monday unveiled two new devices -- "SmarThinQ Hub" and "SmarThinQ Sensor" that enable users to control home appliances with smartphones.

The "SmarThinQ Sensor Package" including three sensors and a gateway costs 299,000 won (about 257 US dollars). The SmarThinQ Hub is priced at 399,000 won.

When connected to non-smart home appliances like refrigerators and washers, the SmarThinQ creates a smart home environment.

The SmarThinQ was first introduced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show and drew a lot of attention. The devices help users to get information about the status of connected appliances and control them.

The sensors will provide the users with different information for each appliance. A SmarThinQ sensor connected to a washer would let users when washing is done and tells them to clean the laundry bucket when they used it more than designated counts.

Also, the device tells users about the living room temperature and turns on the air conditioner before they arrive home.

While the SmarThinQ sensor reads and activates the connected appliances, the SmarThinQ Hub connects the sensors with wireless communication methods including Wi-Fi and notifies its users with sounds. The hub can be connected to Google Calendar and other apps, providing alarms for upcoming events and weather.
