Jack Ma Yun, the founder of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, appears to be worn out, saying setting up his company was the biggest mistake of his life, according to a Hong Kong-based media outlet.

The Standard reported Tuesday that Ma 0shocked the audience at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum last week saying his original goal was to set up a small, simple company and that he had never expected Alibaba to become such a giant enterprise.

Ma, who is Asia's richest man, reportedly expressed his wish for a simple life and indicated he may not want to serve as CEO too long because work was taking too much of his time. After retirement, he said he would focus on environmental protection, the Hong Kong newspaper reported.

Alibaba, set up in 1999, has 407 million active users and recorded an annual average of 12.7 orders in its marketplace last year. Its 2015 net revenue stood at 76.2 billion Chinese yuan (11.5 billion US dollars).
