South Korean actor Claudia Kim has been cast as the main actress of "The Dark Tower", a Hollywood film under production, her agency said Friday.

The sci-fi western horror film, scheduled for screening in 2017, is a remake of Stephen King's original novel.  The movie, directed and co-written by Nikolai Arcel, depicts the journey of a gunman named Roland Deschain to save his decaying world by reaching a tower that stands at the nexus point in time and space.

Kim will act as Arra Champignon along with actors Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, who will take the roles of Roland Deschain and the Man in Black.

The 31-year old known as Soo-hyun made her debut after winning a beauty contest in 2005. She has since appeared in many dramas but it was the Hollywood film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron", which led her to international attention.
