South Korea's eastern port city Sokcho is bustling with a steady inflow of "Pokémon Go" players from across the country, prompting telecom giant KT Corp. to set up a mobile base station to support the gamers.

Sokcho is currently the hottest spot in South Korea because of  a "Pokémon Go" boom. Not only because it's the country's only place where gamers can play the phenomenal mobile game, but also the port city is a prominent place for summer vacations.

Sokcho is literally full of visitors during the season which starts from the end of July until mid-August.

"Although we have not yet experienced any connection problems, we thought it would be good to get ready for the holiday season," said a Sokcho city official. "KT and Sokcho got together to set up a base station."

To prevent any communication blackout or inconvenience caused by a sudden increase in mobile carrier users, KT has set up a mobile base station at the city's Expo Park, which is one of the busiest Pokémon hunting grounds in the city.

The mobile base station will provide KT's fast LTE service to an extra group of 1,000 people at the same time and a free WIFI zone for 100 people in a vicinity of 100 meters around it. KT will also hold Pokémon –themed events until the end of August.
