South Korean actress Moon So-ri has been selected as a judge for the Venice International Film Festival to be held from August 31, said the actress' agency, C-JeS Entertainment.

Moon is the first South Korean actress to serve as a judge for one of the world's oldest film festivals. Directors Park Chan-wook and Kin Jin-ah were selected as judges in 2006 and 2009.

"Being a judge always makes me think very hard because it is nearly impossible to give scores to films competing in a festival," she said. "But it is a great delight and also an opportunity for me to gain knowledge by working with filmmakers from the world. I am thankful to be offered with such an honor."

"I have great memories at Venice. I wish to have a great time there while I take my role as a judge," Moon said. She was awarded an "Emerging Actress" at the film festival for her acting in "Oasis" and took part in the Busan International Film Festival and various other film festivals as a judge.
